Objective. We presented the initial results after the creation of intervascular connections with use of an exclusively endovascular approach. Connections of two vessels were performed under magnetic navigation by catheters system and special needle without damage a solid organ.

Methods. Various types of magnets were designed, which were generally cylindrical and had a maximum size of 2x10 mm. Magnetic elements were covered by carbide silicon ( an anticorrosive agent) and made of Fe-Nd-B alloy. The magnets are attached to a guiding catheter in several ways, and on occasions different models were used for a single case. The magnet was fixed to the catheter directly or by joining them together with a radiopaque guide wire. The guiding catheters, some straight and some bent, had a caliber of 7 Fr.

Results. The procedure was carried out in 14 animals. Catheterizations of a pulmonary artery and an ascending aorta was made by the right femoral access. In addition access through the right carotid artery was used too. The ascending aorta was connected to the trunk of the pulmonary artery and to the right pulmonary artery; the descending aorta to the left pulmonary artery and the right pulmonary artery was connected to the superior vena cava. The connection of two vessels in the thoracic area was safely performed with passage of a guide wire in all cases.

Conclusion. Intervascular anastomoses created by an endovascular approach with special tools inclusive magnetic navigation are feasible in the author’s experimental model.
