Abstract

Glomus tumors are rare soft tissue tumors, constituting less than 2 percent of all soft tissue neoplasms, found usually in the extremities either finger tips or foot , or under the nail. Majority are benign with unpredictable malignant features. Glomus tumors of trachea are much more rarer with very few cases reported in the literature. Nevertheless, early surgery is the mainstay in the management of tracheal glomus tumors. Here we present two interesting cases of glomus tumors in two middle age men presented with progressive dyspnea, hemoptysis, wheeze and stridor, to our thoracic surgery unit. Both underwent primary tracheal resection and end to end anastamosis. Per operatively one tumor showed iceberg phenomenon with tumor extension into the mediastinum without infiltrating the mediastinal structures , but both were locally invasive. Both the patients are doing well after four years of post surgery with no recurrence.
