Abstract

Abstract

Esophageal achalasia is a chronic disease of motility disorder of esophageal muscle. This condition resulted from a disturbance in relaxation oflower esophageal sphincter(LES) and loss of peristaltic movement in the esophageal muscle. There are many treatment modalities for esophageal achalasia management, one of them is surgery. This case report elaborates a 36-year-old woman with esophageal achalasia and left lung abscess. The patient has undergone a thoracotomy, left superior lobe lobectomy, esophagomyotomyand trans-thoracic partial fundoplication. Patient was fully recovered and discharged from the hospital on the 8th day after the operation. Short term follow-up showed that the patient’s symptoms had relief without any complication.
